Dear Grade 1 Families,
The learning and development that has taken place since September has been outstanding. We have not only focused on academic skill development but we have also taken the time to grow as individuals who care about our local and global community. Our little group is made up of 18 respectful, empathetic, and collaborative individuals. I can't wait to see where our learning takes us in the new year! Here are some topics that interest us:
I can't thank you enough for the support and encouragement that you have given our class over the past few months. Our learning truly would not be possibly without you. I hope you and your families enjoy this special time of the year! Warm wishes and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Concert: Please join us this Friday, December 21st, 2018 at 9:30 AM for our Christmas Concert! We have been working very hard over the past month to create a special performance for you! Thank you to all that have already sent in a set of reindeer antlers for their child. Some students have asked if they could wear a Santa hat instead. My answer to this is… OF COURSE! Students are welcome to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in (reindeer antlers or Santa hat). If possible, please send either item in by Tuesday. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding our Christmas concert. Science: We have started to build our homes for Panda! Friendly Reminders:
The Christmas Season is in full swing and our classroom is filled with Christmas spirit. Each day we take time to read story from our Advent calendar. These stories are helping us to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas Concert: Students worked together to create this note for you. Dear Moms, Dads, and Families, To make our Christmas Concert more magical, we were hoping to each wear a set of reindeer antler headbands (the ones that are found at the dollar store) and red and green outfits. We have been working really hard to create a special dance for the ones we love and we can’t wait to share this gift with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we love you. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Lots of love, The Grade 1 Friends Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding our Christmas concert. If possible, we ask that the reindeer antler headbands be sent in by Tuesday, December 18th. This allows students the opportunity to practice our performance with them. Thank you! From now until Christmas, each student will have the opportunity to bring home one of our advent bags. In the bag you will find an advent wreath, candles, songs, stories, and a journal. Please take some time to go through this bag with your child, reading the stories and creating a family entry in the journal. Students will be sharing their journal entry with the class. Please send back the advent bag (and everything within it) the next day to ensure that each of our students has the opportunity to enjoy this special activity with their family. Reminders:
